Gugulethu Duma (aka Dumama) is originally from the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. A dynamic performer, embodied practitioner and voice artist, they are able to vibrate and activate performances on and off screen, while producing electronic and experimental scores for films and ads alike. Their background and influences contribute to their signature style. They work predominantly with uHadi (a traditional Xhosa bow instrument), synthesisers, field recordings, distortions, live vocal loops and processors. Dumama has been performing actively since 2016 at venues and festivals around South Africa, Senegal, Berlin and USA. As a storyteller and lyricist, Dumama would be an impressive fit for voiceover work, scores and musical and screen performances.
